FRPO RTA Webinars

We have attached notice of the Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO) RTA Webinars, the first of which is at the end of this month. In addition to the information listed in the FRPO brochure, we expect to have details of Provincial Legislation relative to the “rent freeze” for 2021 as such legislation is necessary to prevent January 1, 2021 NORI’s from taking effect. Assuming the legislation is announced, we will be addressing it, in addition to optics listed below, including Bill 184 and the sections which are, and are not, in force. Keep in mind that FRPO is offering regional discounts for HDAA, LPMA, EOLO, WRAMA, GTAA, members. Speakers from Cohen Highley will be Joe Hoffer, Paul Cappa, Kristin Ley and Mark Melchers.
| 2020 Residential Tenancies Act Webinars September 23rd – October 8th FRPO’s annual Residential Tenancies Act seminars will take place in two parts and in a virtual format to ensure the health and safety of our attendees. We have revised the seminar materials to include several COVID-19 related topics as well as an update on the LTB and Bill 184. All sessions are presented by legal experts and will highlight a variety of important items to assist you in navigating the RTA as well as providing best practices and an overview of recent case law decisions. Attendees will be provided electronic seminar materials in advance of their session. This year’s seminar will focus on the impact of innovations in building operations, tenant services, and office administration on day to day property management and, in particular, the challenges of making changes while attempting to comply with regulatory restrictions imposed by the RTA. These sessions are normally held as half day events comprised of (3) one hour sessions. In order to better facilitate virtual sessions, we have broken them into two webinars. All registrations will automatically include the Case Law session taking place on October 8th. if you are not available to attend that date, the session recording will be provided to you to view at your convenience.
