About

Osvaldo is a lawyer with dual qualifications in both Canadian and Brazilian jurisdictions. He is part of Cohen Highley’s Real Estate/Wills and Estates group, and Corporate Commercial Group. With a robust skill set spanning law, notarial services, foreign legal consultancy, and arbitration, Osvaldo is adept at handling the intricacies of business and commercial law. His expertise lies in cross-border transactions, contract negotiation and mediation, real estate matters, international trade facilitation, and estate & wills.

Drawing from his extensive experience in private law firms and as in-house counsel, Osvaldo excels in navigating complex regulatory frameworks related to trade and food regulations, managing import-export dynamics, optimizing contract logistics, and orchestrating international business ventures across the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East.

Education & Experience

Osvaldo holds a Juris Doctor degree obtained in Brazil in 2006, and two Master of Laws (LL.M) degrees. His first LL.M, specializing in International Business Law, was completed at Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto, in 2014, followed by a Canadian Common Law LL.M in 2019. Additionally, he has certifications in Agribusiness Management and International Business, showcasing his commitment to a multidisciplinary approach.

In The Community

Osvaldo is a member of various legal and professional organizations, including the Law Society of Ontario, Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, Ontario Bar Association, Toronto Lawyer Association, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada (ADRIC), where he holds the position of arbitrator. Osvaldo actively contributes to fostering bilateral relations between Canada and Brazil through his involvement in chambers of commerce.

Outside Interests

Osvaldo, originally from Brazil, has resided in several countries throughout his life. In 2013, he relocated to Canada alongside his wife and children. Outside of his professional pursuits, he dedicates his spare time to quality time with his family, engaging in recreational activities such as soccer, running, golfing, and scuba diving, and cultivating his passion for travel and literature.
