Lucy Lee
PARTNER
As soon as she began working in Personal Injury, Lucy Lee realised that all of her prior experiences- personal, professional, and volunteer- had led her to this unique area of law. As a second-generation immigrant, Lucy honed her communication skills translating complex concepts into simple, straightforward English. In her 20s she worked and volunteered at Community Living London, working directly with children and adults with varying physical and developmental capabilities, which gave her an understanding of some of the barriers faced by individuals with disabilities, and their loved ones.
When asked about career highlights, Lucy says, “Court of Appeal wins are always an achievement. However, each file is the most important because it is important to the individual client. My work is not just about being a lawyer, it’s about being a human being who is aware of the pressures another human being is undergoing following a catastrophic event, a time in which they are both emotionally and physically vulnerable.”
Lucy was born in Toronto but has lived in London for most of her life, graduating from King’s University College in 1992. Lucy attended Law school in England, graduating in 1997 from the Thames Valley Law School. She then chose to qualify as a barrister and attended the Inns of Court School of Law where she graduated in the top 10% of her class. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales (non-practicing) in 1998. In 1999, Lucy moved back to Toronto where she articled at the Ministry of the Attorney General. She was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2001.
Lucy is a seasoned litigator, she has successfully represented clients in dispute resolution processes overseen by the Licence Appeal Tribunal, Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Office of the Commissioner of Review Tribunals, Pension Appeals Board, Workplace Safety Insurance Board- appeals branch, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, and the Court of Appeal.
Outside of the office Lucy is a foster parent and avid soccer player. She currently sits on the Board for the St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, prior to which she was a member of the King’s University College Foundation Board, and the LEADS Employment Services Board.
