Kate Schoffer

About

Kate practices in our administrative law group.  Her practice focuses on condominiums, human rights, residential tenancies, property tax exemptions and regulatory compliance issues.  Kate provides risk management and compliance advice to landlords, condominium corporations, property managers and unit owners.  She works exclusively with housing providers and landlords with respect to all lease issues.

Kate received her Juris Doctor from Western University in 2019 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2020.  Prior to her call to the Bar, she was a summer student and completed her articles at Cohen Highley, where she gained experience in all practice areas.  Kate assists her clients to reach their goals using a practical and cost-effective approach, including litigation where necessary.

Education & Experience

 Kate received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours), with distinction from King’s College at Western University in 2015.  She received the Childhood and Social Institutions Award for receiving the highest grade average in the senior level courses of her program.

Receiving her Juris Doctor from Western University in 2019, Kate was awarded the G. McLeod-McSorley Scholarship in Family Law for demonstrating the highest achievement in an advanced family law course.  While attending Western Law, Kate successfully participated in numerous mock trial competitions.  She was awarded Best Examination in Chief at the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Cup in 2017.  Kate received first place in the Western Law Hicks Morley Labour Law Moot and went on to place second in the Ontario Hicks Morley Labour Law Moot in 2017.

In The Community

 Born and raised in London, Ontario, Kate is an active volunteer in the community, including as a Board member for the London Affordable Housing Foundation.

Outside Interests

 Outside the firm, Kate enjoys softball, euchre and spending time with her friends, family, and pets. Kate is an avid traveller and has participated in volunteer trips to the Dominican Republic, Peru, Ghana and Rwanda.
