Erin Burns

PARTNER

Erin Burns, a Partner in our Family Law group, is passionate about assisting clients who are often working through one of the most challenging times in their lives. Erin helps determine the most appropriate path for each client’s unique situation, which may include exploring options such as mediation or other forms of alternative dispute resolution to find constructive resolutions outside of traditional litigation. However, when court intervention is necessary, Erin is fervently committed to guiding clients through the process, advocating on their behalf, and achieving an outcome that benefits her clients and their dependants.

Erin’s client-centred approach is shaped by actively listening to a client’s needs and concerns, ensuring clarity, and minimizing conflict where possible to reduce tensions. Erin provides clients with guidance and advocacy on many family law facets, including separation, divorce, child support, decision-making responsibility, parenting time, spousal support, and property rights.

Since her call to the Bar in 2013, Erin has exclusively practiced in family law, and her experience has provided her with a thorough understanding of federal and provincial family law legislation. Erin completed her undergraduate degree at Western University in 2008 with distinction, earning an Honours Bachelor of Science with a double major in Chemistry and Criminology. She graduated from Western Law School with her J.D. in 2012.

Outside of the office, Erin enjoys travelling and exploring new places with her family and friends; however, equally important to her is quality time with her family close to home just baking, playing board games, and attending events with her children.
