Vicki Edgar
PARTNER
Vicki was called to the Bar in 1990 and in 1998 she became Cohen Highley’s first female Partner. She practices civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance and personal injury law. In her own words:
“As a personal injury lawyer, I help people get their lives back together after a traumatic injury. When a client leaves your office with the tools to go forward with their lives because of the assistance you gave them, you feel remarkable.”
Vicki considers her biggest professional strength to be the way that she prepares every file as if it will go to trial. Even though a trail is a last resort, Vicki does this because it lets the other side know she is serious, and she is prepared to fight for her client’s best interests.
Vicki has courtroom experience at all levels including the Ontario Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. She has also been involved extensively with the Ontario Insurance Commission’s Arbitration and Mediation process. In 2023, Vicki and her team won $1.9 million for her client at the first in-person trial by jury since the courts were shut down because of the pandemic.
Vicki is a big believer in volunteering her time and resources to those in need, in 2024, Vicki won the Middlesex Law Associations’ Award for Philanthropy, which recognizes exceptional contributions and/or dedication by MLA members to the community by supporting not-for-profit organizations and/or performing charitable services.
Vicki is involved in the horse industry as a breeder and has written several articles in horse publications on sport and liability issues.
In her personal time, she enjoys her horse farm that is home to her horses, ponies, dogs, and cats; living on the farm keeps her grounded and fit. Annually, she travels to New Zealand to hike with her husband and daughter. Vicki also visits the Parkwood Hospital Veteran Dementia Ward weekly with her therapy dog Alfie.
