Announcer: | I’m here with Matt Reid from Cohen Highley Lawyers. What mistakes hurt your case if you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident? |
Matt Reid: | Never refuse, disregard or fail to maintain your injury treatment or doctor’s advice. It helps the insurance company shift the blame for your injuries to you and not the accident |
Announcer: | What else? |
Matt Reid: | Assume your insurance company is monitoring your social media. If you are receiving insurance money for a back injury and post pictures of you jogging, you are helping them build a case against you. Further to that, never lie or exaggerate. If the insurance company can show you to be untruthful, they will try to bring everything into question. |
Announcer: | Is there any one common mistake people make? |
Matt Reid: | Trying to deal with the insurance company by yourself. Insurance companies and adjusters are very skilled at minimizing the amount of treatment money you receive for injuries. Without a lawyer representing your best interests, you likely won’t receive nearly as much money as you are entitled to. |
Announcer: | Thanks Matt. This has been the Cohen Highley Legal Moment. |
