What is the Family Responsibility Office aka FRO?

Katie Baker

The Family Responsibility office also known as FRO is a Canadian government agency with the legal ability to enforce court ordered child support payments, as well as, spousal support payments. FRO will collect and distribute the support payments. In the event of nonpayment, FRO has quite a bit of authority in their ability to enforce those payments. They can garnish wages, intercept tax refunds, and even go so far as to suspend driver’s licenses and passports. They can seize assets, and in extreme cases they can even imprison for nonpayment of court ordered support payments.

Does it cost money to use FRO?

No, as mentioned FRO is a government agency and is paid for by tax dollars. There are no cost for using their enforcement services.
