Do I have a say in whether my ex brings our children to their new partner’s family holidays?

Laura Smith

ANNOUNCER: I’m with Laura Smith from Cohen Highley. Laura, do I have a say in whether my ex brings our children to their new partner’s family holidays?

LAURA: Each parent can decide where the child will go during their respective holiday time with their children. Unless there are clauses in your separation agreement regarding new partners, each parent can decide when they introduce new partners and involve them in holidays based on the best interests of the children. Hopefully, parents can discuss these boundaries together. As always, decisions should be made based on the best interests of the children, enabling the holidays in the coming year to remain child focused. Approaching these decisions with goodwill may help enhance communication and build bridges, which could make everyone’s holidays a little brighter.
