Liam: If you’re purchasing a condominium with plans of renovating, it’s important to review the declaration, by-laws, and relevant rules to see what you can and can’t change.

ANNCR: And, what can’t I change?

Liam: All condo corporations are different – and they may have specific rules about what finishes or designs you can apply. Reasons for these rules might be to prevent unreasonable noise transfer, for structural reasons, or to keep shared utilities and equipment from being modified.

Liam: It can be – and you can be on the hook for paying to have un-approved renovations changed back. At Cohen Highley – we can help you understand your rights before starting your renovations.
