VIVKI: Yes. Individuals who’ve been catastrophically injured in a motor vehicle accident can get up to $6,000 a month. And individuals who’ve not been catastrophically injured, but still require medical care can get up to $3,000 per month. But that doesn’t go very far for people requiring constant medical care.

VICKI: And until recently, individuals catastrophically injured in motor vehicle accidents had the of paying a family member for care and be reimbursed.
ANNOUNCER: But now?
VICKI: Now the injured party can only be reimbursed for family member services if that family member loses income from a job or incurs expenses associated with providing that care.
ANNOUNCER: Okay. So?
VICKI: Well, now to get family members compensated, they have to clearly document expenses associated with care. This can be childcare expenses, fuel costs, pretty much anything that’s incurred in the efforts to provide medical care needs.
